Mr. Ramal Jasinghe

Chairman of Arpico Insurance PLC

Mr. Ramal Jasinghe began his career in the chemical Industry, serving for a period of 12 years and culminating in his tenure as the Marketing Manager/Alternate Director of the multinational, Union Carbide Lanka Ltd. On completion of his MBA at the Postgraduate Institute of Management (PIM) of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, he was invited to be a part of the senior management of the leading Insurance Company, Union Assurance Limited. Having received his management training at two prestigious business schools; Stanford University in California, USA and the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) at Ahmedabad, he served the Company with a track record of excellence for a period of ten years.

Thereafter, Mr. Jasinghe joined Asian Alliance Insurance, initially as the CEO and after five years in service, was appointed to the Directorate and was designated as Director/CEO until the acquisition of Asian Alliance General Insurance by Fairfirst of Canada. He served 12 years as Director/CEO of Asian Alliance and following the merger of the General Insurance arm of Asian Alliance with Fairfirst-owned Union Assurance General Insurance, and the successive merger of Fairfirst and Asian Alliance, he was appointed the first CEO of the newly formed General Insurance Company, Fairfirst. He served Fairfirst for a period of three years, retiring as a Director, thus claiming an illustrious career spanning over 25 years in the Insurance industry. Following his tenure at Fairfirst, he was invited to Chair an Insurance Brokerage, Strategic Insurance Brokers, where he served for a short period.

He is a distinguished Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM), UK and currently holds the position of Senior Ambassador for the same, in addition to his appointment to the Education Reforms Committee of the Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing (SLIM). Furthermore, he has served as the President of the Insurance Association of Sri Lanka and have been on the Board of the Riot & Strike Commission, as well as on the Financial Services Stability Committee, of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka.

Mr. Shiron Gooneratne

Mr. Shiron Gooneratne is a Fellow Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka and holds a MBA from the University of Leicester, United Kingdom.
He has held Senior Finance positions both locally and overseas.
Mr. Gooneratne began his career at GlaxoSmithKline, Consumer Health Care (former SmithKline Beecham) which is a Fortune 500 Company, as the Financial Accountant and through his dedication and expertise, rose up to the position of Finance Director.
Thereafter, Mr. Gooneratne had held the positions of Chief Financial Officer at Sri Lanka Telecom PLC, Chief Financial Officer of Dilmah Ceylon Tea Company PLC and currently he is the Group Chief Financial Officer of Richard Pieris & Company PLC.

Mrs. Lasinee Seresinhe

Mrs. Seresinhe is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (UK), Fellow of the Chartered Global Management Accountants and holds a Diploma in Computer Programming. Mrs. Seresinhe counts over 20 years of regulatory experience serving the Securities and Exchange Commission of Sri Lanka and the Insurance Board of Sri Lanka (IBSL). She took up duties as the Director General of the IBSL at the time that IBSL set up its office independently and worked at the IBSL until her retirement.Whilst being the Director General of the IBSL, she served as a Board Member of the National Insurance Trust Fund in the capacity of an Ex-officio Member. Subsequently, she served the Ministry of Finance in the capacity of an Advisor for a short period of time. Prior to taking up the post of the Director General, IBSL she served the Securities and Exchange Commission as a Director.Mrs. Seresinhe has several years of experience in the field of Finance in the Private Sector prior to her entry into the regulatory arena and she is currently functioning as a consultant to the private sector and is attached to S S P Corporate Services (Pvt.) Ltd.

Ms. Dilrukshika Fernando

Independent Non-Executive Director

Mrs. Dilrukshika Fernando is a multi-qualified Chartered Insurer with over 13 years of experience in the Insurance Industry. She is an Associate Member of the Chartered Insurance Institute (ACII), Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accounts (ACMA) and an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (Dip M (UK) ACIM).

She started her career at Ernst & Young as a Management Consultancy Trainee in January 2003. Thereafter stepped into the Insurance Industry by joining Union Assurance as a Management Trainee and worked for 7 years in the capacity of the Assistant Manager, Manager and Senior Manager till 2010.

Her job role further expanded after joining Allainz Life Insurance Lanka as she was heading the entire Life Operation Division for 2 years. Whilst at the job she was handling inquiries and operational matters with the Insurance Board of Sri Lanka and Insurance Ombudsman. She was also a member of the Compliance and Audit Committee and Executive Committee.

Her experience in a multinational Insurance Company paved the way for her to join another reputed multinational Insurance Company - AIA Insurance in 2012, where functioned in the capacity of Senior Manager and Head of Operations till 2016. She also functioned as the Specified Officer for AIA Insurance until her retirement.

Dr. Kelum Senanayake

Executive Director / Chief Executive Officer / Principal Officer

Dr. Senanayake has over 40 years of experience in the insurance industry and also has the privilege of being the first and only CEO in the Sri Lankan Insurance industry to hold the coveted Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT) status, achieved in Sri Lanka in an impressive 133 days. In addition to being the Executive Director / Chief Executive Officer / Principal Officer of Arpico Insurance PLC, he also serves on the Boards of Richard Peiris Distributors and Richard Peiris Finance Company as a Director.

He began his career in 1982 at Mercantile Credit Ltd, the principal agent for National Insurance Corporation and moved to Union Assurance PLC where he rose to the rank of Assistant General Manager during a career spanning over 27 years with the company. Thereafter, subsequently he joined AIA Insurance Lanka as General Manager – Operations, where he rose to the rank of Director – Operations, during a stint spanning over a decade.
Throughout his career, he has forged strong relationships with global reinsurers such as Munich Re, Hannover Re and Reinsurance Group of America (RGA) and possesses a high level of both strategic and operational expertise, being actively involved for decades in developing and managing processes that govern new business underwriting, policy holder servicing, claims, group life underwriting, reinsurance, contact centers, customer experience and various other key areas.
A product of Ananda College, Colombo, Dr. Senanayake holds a Diploma in Business Management from Worldview Institute and an MBA from the University of Western Sydney, Australia and was conferred with a Doctor of Business Administration by the London University of Peace, in recognition of his achievements and contributions to the insurance industry. Having received Insurance training in the UK, Germany, Japan, Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Thailand, India and South Africa, he is also a respected trainer in the arena who has trained over 20,000 insurance professionals during his career.
